Sketchbook Series coming soon!

September 28th, 2009

I am always sketching, drawing and painting. The big event for me is a large painting on canvas, and though I see my art as a direct expression of where I am emotionally at the time of it’s creation, I also often weave in themes that have come from my sketches, which I flesh out on a daily basis. I am soon going to add a “Sketchbook Series” section to my colorful art gallery. I feel like this will be a welcome addition to the original abstract paintings and prints that are currently available.  This allows people to own a hand signed piece of original art for a fraction of the price of a paining on canvas.

Proposed Art Fair for the Treasure Coast

August 10th, 2009

Check out this press relase for an alternative art fair that I am hoping to put on within the next few months on the Treasure Coast.  I am looking for creators of colorful abstract art and psychedelic art that want to band together both with an online presence and at the proposed fair to show our unique designs.  I am of the firm belief that you don’t need to go to south beach to find cutting edge art, and will prove it by putting on a successful fair.

Open Call for Cutting Edge Florida Artists

August 7th, 2009

I am trying to revitalize the Treasure Coast art scene through my online gallery. I moved up to the Treasure Coast from South Florida, and I have been disappointed with the lack of cutting edge art in the area. I feel that one doesn’t need to go down to South Beach to find bold and colorful abstract and psychedelic art. I know that the talent is here, and I know that the interest of the community exists, but currently there is no forum for new art here in Port St Lucie, Stuart and Fort Pierce. The local art scene trades too much in the old Florida Standards – sailboats, beach scenes and palm trees. Those things are nice, but they don’t plumb the depths of emotion that happens when one stops editing and jusrt creates. My eventual goal is to set up an alternative art show on the Treasure Coast, but know I am looking to fill my online gallery with like minded artists that want to show color and expression “up here”. I prefer treasure coast artists, but I will consider artists from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando and the surrounding areas if they are willing in the future to come to show their work at the eventual physical show Please send three examples of your work to courtney@courtneyloceff.com for consideration Help me juspstart the NEW Treasure Coast art scene

We Can Improve the Treasure Coast Art Scene

August 5th, 2009

I have recently put out a press relase and added a new page to the site about my frustration to the Treasure Coast art scene.   I want there to be more bold and cutting edge art available in Port St Lucie, Stuart, Fort Pierce and the surrounding areas.  I just think that the art on the Treasure Coast does not have to be dominated by sailboats and sunsets, and I don’t think that we need to travel to South Beach to see art that is new and exciting.

New Prints Page

August 5th, 2009

I have added a prints page to my gallery.  All prints are 11″ x 17″ and are offered in a matte finish.  I have made my three most popular designs avalible as prints, and am planning on adding more as demand increases.  If you would like one of my original artworks as a print and it is not availible, please contact me to inquire.

Bold and Colorful Abstract Art

July 15th, 2009

In my view,  art exists in order to transfer emotion directly from one person to another, and in my experience the use of bold color and shape is the most direct way to express that emotion.  I have experimented with many forms of visual expression and I have found that colorful abstract art is the way that I can best use my talents to share what I feel when I am painting.  I do my best to clear my mind when preparing to do a piece and just let myself go.  I feel that the color selection and the shapes that the colors make are direct expressions of the emotions that I am feeling at that time, as long as I am willing to remove my internal censor and let the paintings take shape.  The result is colorful art that has the quality of making the viewer not think, but feel.

Some have called my work sensual, and some have called it psychedelic art, but I find it best to not label what I make, as the labels are one more way to censor my work, this time after it is created.  I feel that my work is an excellent addition to all types of decor.  I am proud to be a Florida artist, and am excited to be a new addition to the Treasure Coast art scene.  Please visit my online gallery to see my available work, or contact me directly if you would like to commission a piece to fit into specific size or color parameters.
